Before & After: Door to Desk

Alrighty… its *FINALLY* done! Not that it took long to make, it just took forever to get the time to finish painting! But here we go… the “before” of Mr. Door:

And here is the oh so beautiful after:

Isn’t that just refreshing? And incase you forgot what the space looked like before… yikes! Heres a little reminder:

Eww… i know. Sorry to post such a disaster but it makes the After shot much sweeter…

In this last shot you can see the door knob hole where i run the cables through. I initially thought I’d put the desk against the wall so i didn’t expect to need to fill the latch hole but I’m definitely going to have to do a quick fix!

I will post soon my how-to on the paint! If you want to read about the building process go here, here and here!

Also,  (drum roll please) the main reason why I’ve been so determined to get my office up and running: starting friday at 6pm I am officially a full time freelance artist! I semi blame this book for gettin the fire started… read it at your own risk…  four months later you might end up quitting your job too!

Office update

I know I’ve been AWOL the last month… theres some intense news comin up that i can’t wait to share! But this should hold you over for now… my office update! This is just part one of many but here ya go! This is what my living room has looked like the last week:

And remember what my office looked like?:

So everything that was in that closet is now on my couch! Here it is in the process of being painted:

And painted:

And the After:

Like my new typewriter? Yay goodwill! ($15 bucks) PLUS it works… who knew?! I am still working on my recycled door desk along with about 12 other projects that i will hopefully post soon. Its super weird to type on my mac after typing on my typewriter… Its kind of like getting off a boat and still feeling like your on the water.

What a difference  a little paint and organization goes, huh?!

Peace (or monsters) on earth!

I have a strange addiction to globes and maps. I hand painted this beaute (still need to finish Greenland) a few weeks ago and have multiple other maps/globes throughout my apartment.

As much as i like globes, i’ve never seen any like these before!

Here are my two favs!

Hand created by Wendy Gold, ImagineNations (cute, right?!) are vintage globes with recycled materials on the surface. Someone want to get me one? Please!

Whats crackalackin?

Ok here is the deal… I just recently got my first all by myself place…  I’ve been out of my parents place for ages but I’ve been moving constantly since. I think i calculated that I’ve moved about 20 times since i graduated high school… if not more. I know, crazy right? Anyway, so I’m finally settled down, graduated, full time jobin it – so things are pretty calm as far as location. No more moving cross country multiple times at least for now. So why not nest, right? I had some decent(ish) furniture at one point in my life but sold them when i moved back from Georgia. So I’m starting from scratch!

So far i have a lovely (but small) twin mattress, an incredible couch donated by my aristy mother (red italian leather sectional to be exact!) and well… thats about it!  I’m doing my best to transform this boring white box into home… and how will i do that you ask? As cheap as possible! I’m a photographer (aka starving artist) so I don’t have a lot of cash, but I’m creative and willing to get my hands dirty.

Style: I adore anything vintage. I love stuff with character – chipping paint, funky colors,  old cameras and globes, I’m trying not to buy any new furniture… theres so much great stuff out there already, why chop down a whole new tree?!

Current projects: Paint! I just painted by bathroom a very vibrant teal which may be a little over the top but hey… why not! My bedroom I tested a few colors but haven’t liked anything yet… I’m wanting a very light shade of grey green. I’m definitely down for the spa feel…

Build! – I just finished my first project! Pictures coming soooon!
